Lock Me
Privacy Policy
Last updated: 30 October 2026
At Lock Me, we are committed to protecting the privacy and security of your personal information. This Privacy Policy explains what information the Lock Me Android app, available on Google Play, uses, why, and how it is protected. By installing or using Lock Me, you accept this policy.
The short version
- No account, no ads, no analytics.
- The accessibility service only locks your screen. It cannot see what is on it.
- Sensor readings and your chosen watch never leave your phone.
- To run the free week and your subscription, Lock Me shares a hashed device ID and your purchase records with RevenueCat and Google Play.
Information we collect
Lock Me does not require any user accounts, registration, or login. We do not collect your name, email address, phone number, or any other personally identifiable information. Locking your phone happens entirely on your device and never waits on the internet. The only information that leaves your phone is what the subscription needs, described under Subscriptions and purchases.
Accessibility service usage
Lock Me uses Android's Accessibility Service API to lock your screen. It is the only way Android offers that keeps fingerprint and face unlock working afterwards, and this is the sole purpose of the service. The service is set up so that it cannot read what is on your screen. It does not listen to other apps, and the app doesn't collect or use any of the data generated by the service.
What stays on your phone
To lock automatically, Lock Me uses:
- your phone's motion and proximity sensors (face down and shake);
- the list of Bluetooth devices already paired with your phone, to notice when your chosen watch disconnects;
- the clock, for schedules.
These readings are handled on your device the moment they happen. They are not stored and are never sent anywhere. The name and address of the watch you choose are kept on your phone only, and are left out of Android backups and device transfers. Your other Lock Me settings are saved on your phone. If Android backup is on, Android may include them in your Google backup, as it does for most apps.
Subscriptions and purchases
Your first 7 days are free. After that, Lock Me needs a subscription bought through Google Play. To run the free week and the subscription, Lock Me uses RevenueCat, a subscription service that acts on our behalf, and shares two things with it:
- A device identifier made by hashing (one-way scrambling) your phone's Android ID. The original ID never leaves your phone. It lets your free week and subscription be recognised again after a reinstall.
- Your purchase records from Google Play: the plan, the purchase and renewal dates, and whether it is active.
Lock Me sends RevenueCat nothing else: no profile details, no advertising ID (the part that could read it is removed from the app) and no diagnostics. Payments are handled entirely by Google Play, so Lock Me never sees your card or payment details. Google Play Billing also sends Google its own records of billing events. These services have their own policies: see RevenueCat's privacy policy and Google's privacy policy.
How we use your information
The hashed device ID and purchase records are used only to start and end your free week, to check whether your subscription is active and to restore it after a reinstall. They are never used for advertising, profiling or tracking, and never sold. All locking is performed locally on your device.
Third-party services
Lock Me does not contain any advertisements, analytics or tracking tools. The only third-party services it uses are Google Play, to install the app and handle purchases, and RevenueCat, to manage the subscription. We are not responsible for how these services process data under their own policies.
Permissions
Each permission is asked for only when you turn on the feature that needs it.
- Accessibility service: locks your screen while keeping biometric unlock. It gives no access to screen content.
- Nearby devices (Bluetooth): for "Watch disconnects". It lists the devices already paired with your phone and notices when your watch disconnects. Lock Me never scans for or connects to devices.
- Alarms & reminders: locks at the exact minute you chose, and sets your schedules up again after the phone restarts.
- Notifications: tells you when your free week or subscription ends and which ways to lock were turned off. Lock Me sends no other notifications.
- Vibration: a short buzz when a shake locks your phone.
- Internet and Google Play Billing: to check and buy your subscription. Locking never needs the internet.
- Advanced Protection status: lets Lock Me explain if Android's Advanced Protection mode has turned its accessibility service off.
The motion and proximity sensors need no permission. Android also grants a few standard permissions that the app's components use to run short background tasks.
Data security
Lock Me asks only for the permissions each feature needs. What is shared with RevenueCat and Google is sent over encrypted connections. We are committed to maintaining the security and integrity of the app through regular updates and security patches when necessary. However, no method of storage or transmission is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Your rights
Everything Lock Me keeps on your phone is removed when you uninstall it. RevenueCat keeps your hashed device ID and purchase records, so your subscription still works if you reinstall. To have them deleted, email us at the address below. You can then still get your subscription back with Restore purchases. You can cancel your subscription at any time in Google Play.
Children's privacy
Lock Me is not directed at children under the age of 13 and does not knowingly collect personal information from them.
Disclaimer and limitation of liability
Lock Me is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including that it will be fit for a particular purpose or work without interruption or errors. You choose to install and use Lock Me at your own responsibility and risk.
Lock Me is a convenience tool, not a security product. It does not guarantee that your phone will lock at any particular moment: Android, battery savers, Advanced Protection or other settings on your phone may stop or delay it. Do not rely on it to protect your device or your data.
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Plagueworks and its developer are not liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, special or consequential damages, including loss of data, loss of access to your device or unauthorised access to it, arising from the use of, or inability to use, the app, or from the services of third parties such as Google Play and RevenueCat. Nothing in this policy limits any rights you have under the law that cannot be waived.
Your use of Lock Me is also covered by our Terms of Use.
Changes to this privacy policy
We may update our Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be reflected on this page with an updated revision date. We encourage you to review this Privacy Policy periodically for any changes. Your continued use of the app after any modifications to this Privacy Policy will constitute your acknowledgment of the modifications and your consent to abide by the updated Privacy Policy.
